Verification and Validation of Intelligent Helm (iHelm) for Electric and Hybrid Vessels
supported by Swedish Energy Agency
This project is supported by the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten), where we are developing our product for electric and hybrid vessels. One of the major UN goals for transforming the world is the sustainability of marine environments. Electrification is a major solution for emission reduction in the marine segment, however, electrification in marine environments encounters different types of difficulties, and in this project, we hope to solve some of them.

Validation and verification of Cetasol´s Intelligent Helm (iHelm) for Electic and Hybrid vessels
Cetasol´s contribution
For this project, we use our iHelm in combination with our expertise in the marine sector and electrification. We will use data scientists, backend developers, embedded systems, and front-end developers. We will also collaborate with ZEM Energy and Abtery and leverage their expertise within the field.
Project outcome
The outcome of the project will be to develop an intelligent support system for electric and hybrid ferries based on our current solution, iHelm, for diesel powertrains. The solution will provide the total expected energy consumption per trip, the best operational combination to reach the destination, and health monitoring of the system. The results of this project should provide an important step forward in making electric powertrains “1st customer choice” by mitigating the operator’s concerns, hence facilitating the journey toward greenhouse emission reduction goals of 2030 and 2045.
